Studio Policies
General Information:
Lessons are offered in 30, 45, and 60 minute time slots, depending on age and level.
Participation Requirements:
Students are expected to practice at least 5 days a week.
Students must be prepared for lessons, with all pieces practiced, all theory pages done, and any other supplementary work completed.
While most students are initially excited to begin piano lessons, please be aware that they will face challenges and sometimes frustrations. As the initial enthusiasm is replaced by an awareness of the discipline and commitment required to attain excellence, your encouragement and praise will be essential to your child’s success.
Calendar and Schedule:
The semester tuition will cover 16-18 lessons per semester (Aug-Dec; Jan-May). Please check the calendar tab for specifics on dates and holidays. Summer lessons are scheduled separately.
Tuition and Payment:
There are two options for payment:
1. In equal monthly installments. Payments are due by the first lesson of the month.
2. For the entire semester. Payments are due by the first lesson of the semester.
If I do not receive payment, there will be an additional $10.00 late fee added to your total for the month.
Before the semester begins, I will advise you of your tuition total, both for the semester and by the month. The total can be paid at once, or it can be split into 5 monthly payments, due at the first lesson of the month. This keeps your total the same each month.
Tuition will be pro-rated for students beginning after the first week of the semester.
Make-up Lessons:
Fees are not reduced for missed lessons. Full tuition for the month/semester is due, regardless of how many lessons you choose to attend. A student who does not attend a lesson will simply miss the benefit of that lesson. Your tuition reserves you a weekly time slot and benefits within the studio. Enrolling for lessons is a purchase of teacher and studio time, prepared in advance to be free from interruptions and distractions. Since the time passes whether a student uses it or not, a lesson missed is time lost for the studio. Please notify me at least 24 hours in advance regarding any known absences.
In lieu of make-up lessons, I will be offering 3 free bonus group lessons throughout the year. These bonus lessons may serve as "make-ups" for the unavoidable occasions of student or teacher cancellation. Students with perfect attendance may consider these a bonus that they can choose to attend.
Discontinuing Lessons:
I reserve the right to terminate lessons. Disrespectful behavior, failure to complete assignments, and consistent failure to prepare for lessons during the week are the main motivators for discontinuing lessons. Other causes include but are not limited to any violations of this studio policy. If you choose, for whatever reason, to discontinue lessons, you must give at least one month's paid notice. If you are concerned for any reason or contemplating discontinuing lessons, please talk with me about your concerns. I want your child's experience to be a positive one, regardless of how long they take lessons.
